Very little. The record itself is generated electronically the moment payment clears; there is no queue, no review and no business-hours constraint. The short remaining interval is preparing the PDF and delivering it to your inbox.

Why certified records are different
A certified copy cannot be produced electronically, because the certification is the entire point of it. It is physically produced and mailed, so plan on a couple of weeks.

When it has not arrived
Delays are uncommon, and nearly always come down to one of four things. Work through them in this order:
Check spam and promotions
By far the most common explanation. An email carrying a PDF attachment from a sender you have never received mail from before is exactly the profile spam filters are cautious about. Search your whole mailbox, not just the inbox.
Check the email address you entered
A single mistyped character sends the record somewhere it cannot be recovered from. If the address was wrong, get in touch and it can be resent to the correct one.
Check your details matched the licence
Name and licence number must match what is on the card exactly, middle name included. A mismatch is the most frequent reason a request cannot be completed, and it is why the confirmation step on the order form exists.
Overnight and maintenance windows
The provincial record system is occasionally unavailable for brief maintenance, usually overnight. An order placed in that window is not lost, it completes once the system is available again.

Recency: the timing question that actually bites

Many insurers and employers require a record issued within the last 30 days, and rideshare platforms often enforce it strictly. Every driving record carries the date it was produced, printed at the top, so an older copy is trivially easy to spot; you cannot quietly reuse one from three months ago.
The pattern that catches people out: assembling documents over several weeks and ordering the driving record first because it feels like the hard one. By submission day everything else is ready and the abstract has expired.
Order the record last. It takes minutes, so it should be the final thing you do, not the first.
Can one record be used more than once?
Yes, while it is still recent. If you are applying to several employers or platforms at the same time, the same PDF can go to all of them provided it sits inside each one’s window.
Keep the original email rather than a re-saved copy. If a recipient queries the document later, forwarding the untouched original is the cleanest answer, and it saves ordering again. This matters particularly for rideshare applications and carrier applications, where re-screening is routine.
